Disclaimer: Wolfsmond “Werwolflicht”

Since 2002, DMD/Schatten and Unhold have been playing together in the band Wolfsmond. The last album from this band was released in 2010, and since then, they have been working on a follow-up that has yet to be released. In 2022, Schatten gave an interview stating that this album was now complete and ready to be recorded in the studio. Since then, nothing has happened—or has it? Because, in the same year, Unhold approached Wolf and presented him with an almost fully recorded album, which was allegedly supposed to be a new Absurd album. Wolf had never heard any of these songs before, and Unhold had never mentioned them to him. They suddenly appeared, already recorded, and Wolf was asked to re-record the vocals. However, he declined, partly because he suspected something was wrong with these songs. He suspected that they might not have been written for Absurd at all but were actually meant to be new Wolfsmond songs, simply rebranded for release as Absurd. His suspicion was not only based on the thematic similarity of the lyrics to those of Wolfsmond but also on the fact that Unhold had not been able to produce a new Absurd album for many years. In 2014, Wolf had the lyrics and concept for a new Absurd album, “Ad Astra Cruentus,” but Unhold simply never wrote any music for it, so the album was never recorded. And now, many years later, the same Unhold supposedly managed to write and record a completely new Absurd album in such a short time?

Wolf did not participate in these songs, and Unhold has now released them without him, as the supposedly new Absurd album “Werwolflicht.” The CD booklet claims that Unhold wrote the music, but all the lyrics were written by DMD, dating from 1996 to 2004. This is definitely false. There is a written record from DMD from 2017, listing all the songs/lyrics he ever wrote for Absurd before this date. None of the songs released on “Werwolflicht” are included in that list. Not a single one! If such an obvious lie is being told about the origin of the lyrics, then the origin of the songs is also questionable.

Since 2019, Unhold has repeatedly claimed that he has a legitimate right to Absurd through Wolf. However, Wolf sees this differently and has distanced himself from Unhold. Now Unhold claims that his legitimacy regarding Absurd actually comes through DMD/Schatten. But this is also false! DMD left Absurd in 1999 and publicly distanced himself from the band. Thus, he was no longer a member of Absurd, by his own choice! Wolf continued Absurd in consultation with his brother JFN in 2001, and then invited Unhold into the band. It was only after this that Unhold and DMD/Schatten first met, as they did not know each other before. There was never a point where DMD/Schatten formally handed over Absurd’s songs to Unhold and tasked him with continuing the band. This claim is a falsification of history.
